The football under Moyes in that horrendous season at Man U that resulted in his sacking produced the following results-

Man U 3 West Ham 1
West Ham 0 Man U 2

i.e. stuff dished up by Moyes produced 5 goals and 6 points
stuff dished up by walrus produced 1 goal and fuck all points

Will be a good appointment and I say "WILL"

Tell him to take Sergio Canales with him, exactly the type of player we need.

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
Everton's lowest position under Moyes in his last 7 seasons there was 8th, Allardyce hasn't finished in the top 8 in the top flight in the last 10 years

NEVER SAY DIE 2:47 Fri Apr 24
Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
Moyes signed players like Baines, Jagielka, Stones who all went on to play for England, Allardyce has wasted nigh on £100m on players here and not much to show for it bar some of the players Sullivan helped bring in last Summer.

You cant compare the both in either facet of the game and Moyes has proven season after season that he can get the job done on a budget well below the top 4-6 aside from the obvious blip at Man Utd but in truth if he never had that blip we wouldn't even be in with a sniff of getting him here.

Obviously with a squad that has needed £200 million odd spent on it the next season just to try and get in the top four.

Not going to read the article as this is really fucking boring now, but of all the names being touted around I'd say that Moyes is defo the most likely, if fatso leaves.

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
Over Moyes' last 2 seasons at Everton when he finished 7th and 6th he worked on a negative budget of £20m, they had to sell players like Rodwell, Arteta and Bilyaletdinov to buy the likes of Mirallas, Oviedo, Stones and Jelavic.

In Sam's last 2 seasons he's spent nearly £60m with no real outgoings of note.

The funny thing is and some Man Utd fans will also agree that 2 of the most influential players in their turnaround this season are Mata and Fellaini and guess who signed them last year.

Cheers NSD. Reading your analysis makes me feel a lot more comfortable already should indeed Moyes be our new manager next season...sounds promising.

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
The only thing that will likely annoy some of our fans is the fact he very rarely plays with 2 up top. For 2 seasons Jelavic was mostly used as a lone frontman with Fellaini supporting him in that supposed Nolan role with Pienaar on one side and Mirallas mostly on the other and Phil Neville and Osman as the holding players.

Personally feel that he will have far better midfield options here if we land the supposed targets we want in Diarra and Obiang.

The Chicharito link is interesting in that I've no idea whether he fits anywhere in Moyes system unless he's played as a wide striker.

Either Carroll or even Sakho could potentially play the role Jelavic had.

Who knows we have to get the man first and then see how he wants to further shape the squad.

The one thing about Moyes though is that he had 2 of the best attacking fullbacks in the league at Everton in Coleman and Baines and he bought them for a combined £7m. Personally feel that Jenkinson and Cresswell would give him a good stepping stone to that pair.

Interesting stuff NSD

I personally think he would be a great manager for us and the Man U and the Spain experience might have improved him further who knows.

Get him in early in the summer and the transfer window will be more interesting than ever

NSD - Good stuff. Nice to see some insightful football analysis on here for a change.

One thing I will say though, I don't think you can always just assume that how he played before.what systems etc, will be the way he will always play. He may have some other ideas now, or feel that he doesn't have the players here that would compliment his way of playing.

NSD - as said, well thought out and well written posts.

My only issue is that Moyes is a fucking boring Scottish prick and a shit manager.

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
As I've said before, if we get relegated the Daves will lose control of the club and presumably lose huge amounts of money right when we're on the verge of a potentially historic move. There's no way they're going to risk that.

They're going to look for a safe pair of hands. Moyes is the best British manager still active. Everton are the same size as us as a club. Maybe a bit smaller. But he had them in Europe the majority of time he was there.

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
During Moyes' tenure at Goodison Park the football phone ins were full of disgruntled Everton fans bemoaning the rubbish football being served up and calling for his head. The pundits were incredulous saying "Be careful what you wish for."

I'm IN.

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
Moyes sends his teams put to win games , that is how he wins games.

He might be pragmatic at times, he might have been made to look a fool by the media for Man Utd but he is light years ahead of Mike Basett

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
I always thought of Moyes as efficient, thorough & effective as a manager. Not particularly exciting but very prepared in the way he could turn over flabby wannabes like ourselves who were vulnerable . Note the way they would do us time after time.
In a way he was the manager that Allardyce is always insisting HE is except Moyes backed it up.
I think he may have learned that a club like ourselves (like Everton) is more suited to his strengths than a mega club like Man U where you are buying £30m to £50m players.

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
The only thing that will sway Moyes against making the move back to England is his present lifestyle backed up by his bank balance following a multi million pay off at Manchester. His wife might persuade him to stay in Spain. To counter that, he might be out of a job there in a year's time, and I would think West Ham will offer at least a three year, possibly longer contract, with the added challenge of taking the club to the Olympic Stadium. Mr Henry will no doubt use his powers of persuasion to bring about the two Daves' wishes.

I have to say I would be happy to see Moyes or Bilic replace that gum chewing barrel of lard ASAP. I cannot see Benitez coming to us at all really even though he has the best CV of all the candidates mentioned.

Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
I can't see how Moyes is a shit manager. Even if he isn't your cup of tea.

I'm not against Moyes being our next manager, but there's something about him I'm not 100% about, so if he is, I'll find it easier to keep calling him a cunt if we don't win every game we play.

Steve P 8:19 Fri Apr 24
Re: West Ham in fresh move to land top target David Moyes
Oh, and Moyes would probably get the best out of Carroll, and also not feel obliged to play Nolan.
